Executive Summary
Faced with demographic growth, climate change, social and geographical inequalities, people are increasingly exposed to the consequences of the environmental emergency that is affecting our planet – availability of quality water, being one of the most crucial ones. The customer is a water technologies entity which provides water solutions using advanced technologies and experienced professionals. ITTStar and the customer joined hands to enhance productivity using innovations in technology.
Customer Challenge
The customer has been developing high-quality water since the late 19th century to help people constantly improve their quality of life. To manage the water plants efficiently, the client had difficulty in simplifying the process of identifying, managing, fixing and treating the water plants without considerable human intervention.
Partner Solution
ITTStar provided customer with technological expertise and predictive analytics to enhance their water, wastewater, and process productivity. ITTStar implemented the IoT platform in a serverless architecture using AWS IoT. Other AWS services including AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway, and Amazon DynamoDB were used to implement some key features for its connected devices, including the ability to send commands to devices anywhere and get a response. The solution automatically updates features on its devices and continuously collects data and transforms that data for later analysis or use in real time. A well architected framework using machine learning, predictive and prescriptive based solution was applied to derive accurate and real-time results for the water plant.
Why AWS?
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a secure cloud services platform, offering compute, database storage, content delivery and other functionality to help businesses scale and grow. AWS’s scalability, global presence, maturity in IoT, security, easy-to-use modular structure, cost effective services were the deciding factors. Customer was already using AWS infrastructure to store all their data and hence, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon API Gateway & AWS Lambda were identified to use for this transformation project.
Results & Benefits
Reduction in fraud and litigations due to real-time alerts via online, email and texts in the event of excessive consumption, leak or energy costs.
Up to a 30% decline in water bills thanks to implementation of automated meter management as well as smart billing with seasonal and social pricing.
Increase in global water network performance by real-time monitoring of delivery volumes and anomalies.
Integration of hi-end policies and securities throughout the entire architecture by using AWS IoT platform.
